25 Names of Christ Celebration - Day 13
"'I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.'" Revelation 1:8
I like to think my life is significant. I mean, it's important to me and my little world, so surely it's essential to everyone, right??
Revelation 1:8 quickly brings me back to reality, reminding me of what James 4:4 teaches, saying, "For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes." Our time, our influence on earth is finite. Very finite. That doesn't mean we shouldn't live life to the fullest or passionately pursue the assignments God has given us on this earth.
Instead, it means we should do both of those things with the right perspective in mind. And, that perspective, that focus, needs to be on the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End.
Christ, the Alpha and the Omega, is not limited by time--He always has been and forever will be. He is all-encompassing; all of existence belongs to Him. He is all-powerful. There truly is none like Him!
When we remember that it changes our perspective, aligning our priorities with His, reminding us that our value truly comes from Christ alone. With that in mind, we can live life to the fullest and passionately pursue our God-given assignments because when our focus is on Him, His desires become most important.
Today we encourage you to spend a few minutes reflecting on what the name Alpha and Omega means. Did you know those are the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet? What could that tell you about the meaning of this name for Christ?
