25 Names of Christ Celebration - Day 9
Isaiah 9:6 “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father…”
I have a sign that reads, “I am the daughter of a King who is not moved by the world. For my God is with me and goes before me. I do not fear because I am His.” It’s positioned so that it’s one of the first things I see in the morning to remind me of who I am in Christ at the very start of my day, and I repeat it to myself any time I begin sinking into anxiety or doubt.
These names in Isaiah’s prophecy point to a Messiah who will embody all the attributes of the most righteous king any nation could desire. A wise warrior who cares for his people like a father would.
No one who believes in Jesus as their Savior is an orphan. An earthly father may abuse, neglect or abandon His children, but Jesus Christ never will. It’s simply not in His nature because God is love (1John4:8), “and love is patient and kind.” (1Corinthians 13:4) Jesus is even more than the most perfect, loving Father anyone could ever imagine.
In the 14th chapter of John, Jesus declares “Whoever has seen me has seen the Father…Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me.” (John 14:9,11) This is the beautiful mystery of the Trinity, that Jesus and the Father are one, and belief in Jesus gives us “the right to become children of God.” (John 1:12)
So, friends, step out in faith, with head held high today. For you are the son or daughter of THE Father, part of the largest family of brothers and sisters ever conceived, and you never face the world alone.
